one out of three new fish die?

The lfs did have them in the same tank together i know that. i tested all that i had tests for.

nitrates <10

sg 1.022
ive had a little bit of hair algae and cyano could that have anything to do with it? also my temp was between 80.5 and 82 but i opened the hood and its staying around 79 now.

I don't really see anything wrong here besides the SG being a little low. If you don't have inverts then it is alright though. Hair algae and cayno usually come from too many nutrients in the tank, but not always. That wouldn't really effect your fish though. If these Bangaii were wild caught then they may not have faired too well with the whole process. Captive breed are much hardier. Do you happen to know which these were?

Well, it can be a big problem. I am trying to think of what the wild ones get. It isn't coming to me, I apologize for that. It is an infection. You can PM Bang Guy, he knows all about Bangaii cardinals and what it is that they get if they are wild caught. I am so sorry that I cannot think of it off hand. How did the second one look when it died? How is the last one doing?

im not very familiar with how they are supposed to look they all three looked the same to me not malnurished, no ich, no signs of stress. my sister said the second one was picking at rocks and thirty minutes later it was layin down. the third one has been hangin out, swimmin around a little and looks good.

The pictures from SWF were of aquacultured ones. The picture I just posted was of wild caught. They do not fair well because of the collection practices in Indonesia, where they are native.

I don't see anything wrong with your water readings at all. You don't have inverts right? I would still make the next batch of saltwater a bit higher in SG. It is low. That wouldn't have killed the fish though.

Oh my, buy a refractometer! Hydrometers are so far off. I speak from personal experience. Refractometers run about $40. It is not a lot of money for your tank, ESPECIALLY being that you have coral. How long have you had this tank again?
