Online ordering?

Everyone says watch your lfs carefully. What about ordering them online where you can't see them eat or what they look like? Do you just have great fish stores in the area? We really don't. Any experience with online?

On-Line ordering in my opinion is better. One less stop for the fish where kids will be tapping on the glass stressing them out even more. On-line also guarantees their fish for a cetain amount of days (usually 6-7 days) so they will send you a healthy fish.

some lfs are great, some are good and some suck.
We've ordered from swf.com but only inverts, and they were ok, though on star was/is missing a leg and a half... I like to pick out the fish we get...so unless sfw.com wanted to set up a webcam so i could pick out the fish i'll stick to getting them at the lfs.
some online stores will give a couple of days guarentee (sp).
i suggest trying something cheap or simple and see what your results are then try buying fish if you want to. if your lfs suck you don't have much choice, other then to get them from the store the same day the store gets the shipment in (before they let the fish out of the bag)

They actually sent you a starfish that was missing a leg and a half? Oh my gosh!
Maybe I'll stalk my lfs for awhile and see what they have and how they look. :) Although, great point about the kids tapping on the glass!! <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

The livestock I have received from SWF.com has been very good. I got all of my inverts from there, and as the very first inhabitants of my tank, they did quite well. I just bought my first fish and coral from them (arrived yesterday) and both were beautiful specimens. I'm still in the touchy phase with the fish, but the plate coral is open and looking great.
I suggest giving it a try, if you order a few things (a fish, some shrimp, some snails) you will save money over the LFS, even with the shipping costs.

I received my first order from SWF.com today. Was inverts package with snails, scarlet crabs, emerald crabs, blue leg crabs, coral banded shrimp and brittle stars. All are and appear hardy. I am very pleased so far.
My LFS gives no guarantee on SW fish, so to get a 6 day guarantee is great!

Thanks for the info from swf.com. That's what I was hoping as I liked the idea of one less stop and NO kids terrorizing my fish. Good idea on the mixing of stuff to help on costs. I was wondering concerning the one fish at a time, paying $30 for ship/hand. And, that's funny!
