Online Tank Retailers

Hello all! First post here, what an AMAZING site, so glad I stumbled upon it last night!!!!!!
Anyways, in the market for another tank (salt) and was wondering if there are any great deals for the tanks online? Or is the LFS really the best way to go?? Saw All-Glass's 95-Wave last night for the first time, and that looked gorgeous. Is this tank practical, or is better to stick with the standard designs?
Thanks in advance!!
Jeff

IMHO I would just go the the LFS and purchase what your looking for......Regardless of what the price is of the tank online your going to pay mad cash for shipping......unless they offer free shipping, which I doubt....Plus you run the heartache of ordering the tank and when it arrives it's damaged and then you have the hassle with returning the thing.....At least if you deal with someone local or close you save shipping and see exactly what you getting first hand.....

How big of a tank are you talking about getting.....I've seen the wave tanks, and I wouldn't buy one for a reef, but they do look cool though

Well, I'm thinking 90-130gallon. I found glasscagesDOTcom and they will take your new tank with them to a exhibition or show for you to pickup at. For example, there's a exotic animal show in Tampa, FL in October where, if I order a tank, they'll take it with them to the show where I can pick it up. Hmmm, seems like a good deal, but wouldn't work for everyone, because not everyone is going to be near a show, nor may the show not be timed when the want a tank. But, they will ship it via common carrier too. Hmmm
BUT, then again, I should want to support the LFS. BUT compared some prices and a WaveMasterPRO at my LFS is $250 while online its $139. Thats a BIG difference :scared:

GlassCages did my tank and I'm very pleased with Toms' work!!!!!!! :D shipping is alittle expensive and I work for the company that Tom ships through regularly, so even with a discount it was high and without a discount it was extremely high....
I don't care if they are a LFS or not if their prices aren't in line 2 bad on them, not in the habitat of spending extra cash just be friendly....You have to eat as well....You can get the Wavemaster Pro in my area for $109.00

I live two hours from Tom and my little truck came in real handy for hauling the 180 I bought from him. Great guy with a great product. GlassCages is a fun place to visit. There's something really cool about his place and all that goes on. It's just a spit and a quik whiz from Nashville. Great place to visit while you are picking up your tank. He's been at it for a long time and really knows his stuff. If you can find a LFS that is fairly priced, knowledgable and willing to help keep you out of trouble, let us all know. IMO it will be as rare as a bucket of chicken lips. There is a handful of online folks that you can feel reasonably comfortable with depending on your type of fishing. IMO these are the ones to support.

I purchased my 180G acrylic tank online, the site offers free shipping on all acrylic tanks in the US.

with the drilling, and overflow set-ups, it came to barely over $1000, they were also having a holiday sale at the time.

Thats a pretty good price Cmack! Now, 15 years ago when I was last in the hobby, Acrylic's were smaller sized, atleast the ones I was exposed to. I can't remember ever hearing of a 180 acrylic back in the day. What's the benefit besides weight?

They are clearer depending on the quality of acrylic and finish....Nicer seams if that's important, but really sweet is museum quality seams......you can't even tell they are there and you won't find that for a $1000 anywhere.......Better insulator than glass, but scratches heck of a lot easier....I'm still a glass fan, and if clarity is an issure have your glass tank done in Low E or starphire glass.....
