open brain ejecting slime

I have on open brain coral that I just got yesterday, It seemed to be doing okay, was not totally open - but almost. As I was looking into the tank, it ejected a bunch of brown slime, and deflated to about 1/2 the size it was. I had read something about this a while back, but I don't recall why they do this. Can somebody help me out?

I have never posted a pic before, so here goes nothing. My camera isn't that great. The brown in the sand is not the slime, it's leftovers from a bit of a diatom bloom I had a couple weeks ago. I had the lights out before I turned them on to take this pic. There was a row of "tentacles" that ran all the way around the top. Saw them last night, but don't see them during the day. Hope this is some kind of help.

finally got it!

Sorry for the poor quality, my camera isn't very good.I think you can see it is pretty deflated. Still moving, so at least I know it's alive. The brown on the sand isn't the slime I mentioned, it is leftovers from a bit of a diatom bloom I had a couple weeks ago.
