Open Brain Not Looking Good

I have had this open brain for about 3 weeks. For the first 2 weeks the brain looked great, really large. But for the last week its been looking a little wierd, not as big. I know that none of the fish bother it and it gets medium light and current. Not sure about feeding it and about using chemicals such as SeaChem reef plus-reef complete-reef calcium. Please tell what you do and use. Thank you.

it really depends on what type of lighting you have on the tank. what type of lighting do you have on the tank? I really don't understand what type of chemicals you are using in the tank. I know that I use chemicals such as calcium, iodine, strontium & molybdenum. without these supplements your corals will not live very long, a month at the most before they begin to detiorate.

I haven't added chemicals to the tank yet. But, believe me I will go to the store today and start adding. As for lighting I have 60W full actinic and 60W full spectrum. I will add more light in the future.

So you say you havn't started using chemicals yet. What is you calcium and alk at? If you don't do anything to monitor these parameters then I would start here.

Keitho I agree. You are going to need to up-grade you lighting soon. What kind of ballast are you running?I know you said you have pretty good bulbs but do you have the power to put out there full potential???You need you calcium around 400 to keep corals healthy.
