Open Brain Question

I have had a Green Open Brain for over a year now. This past week it has stopped opening up during the day and has become very hard. I was wondering what the life span is for a brain or do I need to look at other factors?

corals can live a long long time. did u check ur water parameters? something is wrong if its not open for a few days.

alk is a bit low, but shouldnt cause any problem. see if it opens back up in a few days. what other corals do u hv? changing 10% water wouldnt be a bad idea either.

I have had red mushrooms, zoe's, xenia's, and a torch for as long as I have had the brain. I also have star polyps, hammer, a toadstool leather, and a hairy mushroom. I just added a colt, elephant ear and some kenia trees.

do u run carbon? softies like kenya tree and leathers r known to release chemical thats detrimental to hard corals.

i didn't know that. i will put some carbon in the sump. how long does it take for the tree to start producing the toxins?
