Any feeding tips---should I actually be putting brine or something else on it?

Mine always gets whatever I feed my clowns ... mysis shrimp and cyclopeeze. I've never spot fed it, and it does fine.

I've spot fed mine raw shrimp and also frozen formula 1. He's a chow hog! I have to turn off all my pumps and make sure my inverts and fish are full before attempting to feed the brain or they snatch his food from him. Here's a pic from right after he ate.

How do you go about doing it? A feeding stick?

If you can get the food to come off easily sure. Just remember this thing isn't an aggressive feeder... he isn't gonna grab it off the stick. The first couple times I fed him I just stuck my arm in there and put the food by his mouth! My LPS corals don't like my arm in the tank, so I am trying to avoid doing that again. I'm in the process of looking for some LONG plastic tweezer type thing that will allow me to put chunks on him easier. I have some aquarium tongs but they are a little too bulky for that kind of fine motor skill.

Can you put a brain on a rock ledge or should it be on the bottom. If I do put it on the bottom would i have enough lighting I have 2 175 mh and 440 vho on a 18" high tank 60"long. Thanks for the help

Put your brain on the sand bed ....it should be happy there. :yes:

And yes your lighting is ok for it at that depth.

Open brains really do need to be fed. They don't have sweeper tentacles so they should be spot fed. I fed mine krill. Try to feed them when they're not open. One of the problems I had was my shrimp kept stealing his food so I just put in a clear plastic dixie cup over him when he ate.
