Mine always gets whatever I feed my clowns ... mysis shrimp and cyclopeeze. I've never spot fed it, and it does fine. :D

If you can get the food to come off easily sure. Just remember this thing isn't an aggressive feeder... he isn't gonna grab it off the stick. The first couple times I fed him I just stuck my arm in there and put the food by his mouth! My LPS corals don't like my arm in the tank, so I am trying to avoid doing that again. I'm in the process of looking for some LONG plastic tweezer type thing that will allow me to put chunks on him easier. I have some aquarium tongs but they are a little too bulky for that kind of fine motor skill.

Can you put a brain on a rock ledge or should it be on the bottom. If I do put it on the bottom would i have enough lighting I have 2 175 mh and 440 vho on a 18" high tank 60"long. Thanks for the help

Open brains really do need to be fed. They don't have sweeper tentacles so they should be spot fed. I fed mine krill. Try to feed them when they're not open. One of the problems I had was my shrimp kept stealing his food so I just put in a clear plastic dixie cup over him when he ate.
