seems like an infection and not a wound. The red part in the middle may have gotten bigger, but in the first picture it was hard to see. I would put the fish in a QT tank and treat with medication in there.

Welp heres the update, or rather just a picture of my QT just up at an as needed basis. I took about a cup of sand out of the DT and 80% of the water in it is DT water. I took a filter pad out of my canister on the DT and cut it in half and placed it in a new bag/pad of the whisper 20i help boost things along. But I just realized my temp is 86*, think I killed any good stuff moving from 79 to 86 water?
Ill get some pvc fittings and pipe tomorrow, weather permiting. We just got 13 inches of snow in less than 10 hours. Dont you just love michigan weather?!?

Well everything reads zeros in the QT tank, im still quite leary tho since its only been up like 3 1/2 to 4 days. temp is the same as the dt. But im having trouble getting the sallinity just right. The dt is at 1.024ish and the qt is at 1.025ish, think it would be ok? Or would he need to be reacclimated?
Just retested to verify results, ammonia now reads .25. Hmm didnt read this yesterday or earlyer today....

Well I guess I dont need to worry about the QT for now.. I woke to a dead tomni. I am NOT happy, these fish are so hard to find locally and are a perfect small tang. I think this diagnosis was internal parasite. When I pulled him out of the tank he had something large and white coming out of him, he was REALLY fat. I mean he ate good last night, but not that fat. Its things like not knowing what caused this and not knowing how to fix them that really make me think twice about this hobby....

Ah, I am so sorry that you lost him. Don't give up though. He must have had the parasite when you got him. It happens sometimes and there isn't much that you can do about it.

I picked up a sixline earlier today, and my parents are acclimating him(thought of this scares me), so we will see how he is when I get out of work today.

I also bought a aqua c remora today! I finally have a skimmer! I know they take a while to break in, but mines producing alot of microbubles, is this normal for the remora?

You have to fiddle with the adjustments. You want enough bubbles in the chamber to collect skimate, but not so much that the skimmer is putting them back into the tank.

Please set up the qt and use it.
Unfortunately the qt still isnt ready, im reading no ammonia, but now I have .5 trites.
I will continue to set it up, and will use it from now on, since by the next time I add a fish, it will be ready. I just cant figure out where in the heck to put it, I cant leave it on my desk next to my computer forever.

The QT? If you don't plan to keep it there then move it. Why would you set it up in a place that you don't plan to keep it? No offence, but why?

I really had no place to put it, I just wanted to get it up and going FAST to try and help my tang, I was not at all worried about placement at the time just trying to save my center piece fish.

Okay, well being that it is not fully cycled, now is a good time to move it. Keep the water though. Use a few buckets to drain the water into. Don't move it with water in it.
