opinion on halimeda

Just looking for some feed back. I like the way halimeda looks in a reef, and wondering if they are good at removing nitrates.I understand they remove calcium. How fast do they grow? From what I read, the fish do not eat halimeda, so would I have a problem with it growing out of hand.Or would a better choice for nitrate removal be a refugium with caulerpa.

From what I've heard and unfortunately experienced it is difficult to keep in the aquaria. The plants I had became white after a while. My opinion would be to go for the refugium with caulerpa.
