Opinion on shark tank dimensions

Just wanted to get an opinion on this issue. I have an epaullette shark in my 225 gallon tank and I am considering finding the shark a new home or getting a larger tank. The tank now is 72" x 24" x 30".
I am looking at a 350 gallon setup that has a 60" x 44" footprint. The surface area would be almost doubled but the length is a foot shorter. Is this truly an upgrade? Experienced opinions only please.

in my knowledge the tanks not wide enough and not long enough, increase the tanks length by atleast 40 or so inches and the width by about a foot or so

With Sharks width is always more important than length, however length is more important than height. No tank which will be used to hold sharks should be less than 30". Thats the bare minimum as far as width goes. For an Eppaulette I would go with a 40" width ideally, and 44" would be a big plus. However 60" length isn't the best. I would say minimum for a Bethnic shark would be about 84". If you could find a tank around 84"x40"x24" you would be set forsure.

a good rule is to make sure the depth in 75% or more than the total adult max size for an inactive shark, the length should be 3 times the total adult length or more. this will be a good start for an inactive shark. more than one shark you need to add an additional 25-40% on the depth and length per shark.

I appreciate the replies, although only Brenden's really offers a reply to my question. Maybe I was a little unclear but I am looking for opinions as to whether a 60" x 44" tank is better for my shark than my 72" x 24". Brenden, your reply does seem to suggest that width is more important than length so then the new dimensions would be better than the current tank. I'm just debating whether to pull the trigger on this thing. This is the alternative as there is no 120" x 40" tank staring me in the face.

Yes, I think the 60"x44" would be the best bet. Becasue than you are getting close to a square effect, and becasue the Eppaulettes aren't the most active sharks, I would say the 44" width is more important to them than the 60" length.
