i just got my skimmer and i have a 60 gal FOWLR for now.
its next to my bed and i have a timer for it Off at 2am and on at9am. is it ok to have it on and off during its break period of 1-2 weeks? will the on and off of about 6-7 hours affect it?

I am turning mine off for about 10 hours a day during the break period. Just got mine a week ago too. It doesn't seem to make a difference, but I would like to hear other's opinions too.

I just say let it run 24/7 . . . . . turning a pump on and off like the that, especially the ones that typically come with some skimmers, is hard on the motor which can shorten its life span. Furthermore, turning it on and off will only extend the break in period. Its not the amount of time that you have it, but the amount of time that it actually runs.
