hey everyone i am ready to start stocking my 250 gallon.
here is my stocklist.i wish to add.
purple tang 5 inches (already have)
clown trigger
puffer (maybe mappa)
coris wrasse
lion fish
annularis angel
also thinking of one or two more.
marine betta
eel
it obviously will be an aggressive tank.do youthink the purple tang will be o.k.
any suggestions would be great.i have a big skimmer and over 300 lbs of lr it has been running for 3 months with a cuc which i will get the shrimp and most of the snails and crabs out to my 90 reef.
i have been ghost feeding everyday for the cuc and it tests perfect.

Purple Tangs are beautiful fish, I have 3 and love them. A clown trigger is the worst possible tankmate for any lion; they will end up chewing their fins and literally stressing them to death. ( There are short term exceptions, but long term, the lion will be a goner.) Many puffers are deadly with lions also. Triggers & puffers will also lunch on your inverts. CTs are incredible fish, but I'd really research this fish, I think you'll find you have very limited options with one in the tank.

Filefish are really neat fish, for a quiet tank. If you go with the Clown Trigger, every fish you have/get will have to be big enough and assertive enough to handle this guy. Many sources recommend a species tank for CTs. They are capable and willing to kill just about any fish they don't like; even after getting along for a long time. I can't tell you how many ways I've tried keeping a CT with other fish and have given up. Also, if you do get a CT, the yellow-nosed juvis are extremely tough fish to get acclimated, get a slightly bigger one. Consider tankmates like aggressive wrasse, big Angels, other aggressive triggers, and the CT should be the last fish in the tank, they especially hate newcomers.

yea crypt i agree but this isthe tank i have now.the fish i get will be no bigger than afew inches.i figure by the time tey grow i will get an 8 footer.
i think i will scrap the clown trigger sounds like more trouble than they are worth.so lets see how about.
annularis angel
purple tang
coris wrasse
puffer
marine betta
tassle filefish
maybe another something down the road it will taks a while to get all these together and figure out what order .i figure two evey couple months.the tank is well established the rock has been running in another tank for over a year.

Im an idiot. I apologize. for the misunderstanding. If you want a trigger and wat a different trig that is gorgeous why not a golden heart? They are awesome and a good community trig from what I read.
Other than that I love that list. Maybe a powder blue tang?

i looked into the golden heart .pretty wild looking fish although i have read comments and most are saying it is a very aggressive fish.
actually i do like the niger because of the body shape and they are more dosile.my wife likes th bird wrasse also.

Im pretty sure Golden hearts are one of those less aggressive. I have read that people are buying them as a comminuty fish because they dont go crazy. Maybe post about it in the aggressive section.

I would start out with 3. QT them up then add them as you qt. If you start out with smaller fish I cant imagine too many aggression issues.
Im not familiar with the marine bettas. They are in the grouper family though correct?
Id at the tang last as you already have him established.
Maybe do the puffer first as I havent seen much agression from smaller puffers. Its when they get bigger and like to nibble on things like power cords. That will add some nice bio load to the tank. Then get the angel depending on size then the wrasse and betta.
Add the tang and tigger last. some nice colors and some activity maybe a powder brown or blue tangs?

wel you aint goint to believe this but i found my 8 yr old purple tang dead today.he has been in qt for lympho for 2 months .it looked like the lympho was gone for the last 2-3 weeks .he had what looked like bright white all over hit top fin.i have no idea what that was.i have been in this home for a year and have lost more fish i this timeframe than the last 15 yrs together.i r/o filer all water but ireally think there is something in the well water here that is killing my fish weird but the inverts and corals are doing fine.
i had a marine betta for a few years they seem to be very mello.

that really sucks about the tang. that is very odd about the fish but corals or inverts which IMO are way more sensative
