Have the chance to purchase a 110gal Marineland tank, that, according to the owner, was custom made for the person who owned it before him. It has a sump system in the main tank w/ built-in protein skimmer, all plumbing self-contained in stand w/ wheels, uv light filtration in the stand, pump, plumbing, cooler (for pump)..all for $160...actually said $130 if I say yes today. The only issue I see is the tank is kind of built-in to the stand..at least that is how it seems...not sure if i can get that whole unit into basement...anyone have anything like this??? Opinions please...good deal? Good tank? Sounds like everything I need in one "box". Thanks!!

Looks like this really is a "commercial" tank for like live lobsters at the grocery store...anyone ever convert one of these to home use?

I'd have to see it. Is it acrylic? I would check for scratches and I doubt its one unit. Can you post a pic? If its in good shape for $130.00 it would diffinately be something to work with. Even if you have to rip it apart and clean and make some mods it would be worth it. As long as you didn't mind some elbow grease and some DIY!
If anything it would probably be worth the chiller!

Well, I think you're right it is one unit! Man I don't know thats a tough call! Being meant for cold water fish I don't think its worth the time or effort. It doesn't look like it will come apart or lend itself very well to modifications. It's not like there are individual parts so they would be worth something. It would also seem that you're locked into that unit and would have to buy all the replacement filters and such.
I think I'd keep looking! There has got to be a reason for it being that cheap. But nothings impossible!
Sorry

It looks like a lobster tank......having one from a previously owned restaurant... I would check underneath the tank because lobster tanks have chillers in the base at leat the ones I've seen....if there is a way to disconnect the refrigeration then it is a good buy.. Tough call like was said before...You may run into trouble if there is a water holding tank in the bottom if there is no way to access it or if there is not sufficient circulation could be a nitrate factory...
