It is not possible to know the exact space a fish needs, but enough tangs have been kept in 55 gallon tanks before to know it doesn't work. They will not live and thrive there. Sure, a small yellow tang could start in a 55 gallon tank, but it will need a much larger tank as it grows to its adult size.

Yeah, I have worked in enough fish stores to know that many times when people just say they are fine or normal, they really have not been tested for a while. I am not saying that this is the case here, but usually it is what happens.

Well I appreciate your opinions but not the fact I am being called a liar. I did test them and they are all within specs. I have no reason to lie about it. The other cool thing is that not only are my fish striving, the do so from faucet water. I dont even use special water.

Exactly lion. I dint have nearly that many inches per gallon in my 36g a few months ago and my nitrates were over 200 even with very small feedinds. The bioload of that many fish would make your nitrates sky high unless you did daily HUGE water changes. And even then they might still be high.

I notice you still didnt post your parameters. In my mind that tells me you dont know what to say to that question. Would have been real easy to post the actual numbers just now if you knew them.

Yes, your fish may be STRIVING to be placed in a bigger tank, but I doubt that they are thriving. And what to you is within specs.?
I am seriously not trying to attack you, but I care about the animals involved. Over time, they will become very stressed out, lose their appetite, and develop head and lateral line erosion. This has been proven several times in the past. I have enough experience with these animals to know that this is what happens.

Posting numbers is not needed. I have told the truth and I know them. I could post the perfect numbers but that wouldnt prove anything. Kind of like saying I have a child. Do I need to tell his his weight, height, and hair color for you to belive I am a parent? I am not being a BUTT I am just saying my perimeters are on. Mabe its cause My fish are still small and they are doin no damage right now. I am not sure about thier future but the have been bought and I cant just flush them. So, I was looking for different thought and opinions on the subject. And yes, I do use tap water and Yes it is within spec.

i could not agree more with the sentiment on this thread....i ignored it originally and lost my yellow tang and bannerfish in the same day. do not ignore the advise of these people...they know what they are talking about...and you obviously do not. dont kill your fish for the sake of your own short lived enjoyment.

Rather than that rambling post, you could have simply posted your numbers like we asked 10 times.
If im not mistaken, YOU were the one asking for OUR advice.
There is no way that your nitrates are "within specs".

Having done this for a great while and acccomplishing things doesnt make an expert in my opion. I agree that most of these threads do in many ways make sense. I also know that what I am doing can also work. I have seen a tank more stocked than mine. Thats why i want info to see what I feel I need to do to make it work.

Alright, let's not fight about it. We gave our opinions, and he gave his. That is all we can do. If and when the animals die from stress or HLLE, we will know in our hearts that we tried to do our part and give responsible advice. In the end, it is his tank and he is the one who has to live with whatever decisions he may or may not make.
Regardless of what you do though, I would hope you please don't add any more fish to that already over-populated tank.

REALLY?!?!?!?! What makes someone an expert then??? Doing something everyone says cant work to try an prove them wrong. Im not real sappy like some on this board about fish's lives but i still dont want to see them die for no reason at all!!!!
You already have way to many fish, if you dont want to take back or trade any of them, at least, for the sake of the fish and your wallet, DONT ADD ANY MORE FISH
