I have a fifty five gallon tank that is almost ready for fish i decided not to put in a sand bed in this tank. What kind of agressive fish would be good in this tank. i like triggers. My other tanks have non aggressive fish. also has anybody got anything nice to say about bare bottomed tank. i have a thirty gallon reef with a sand bed and a ten gallon tank with a bb. I seem to have a lot less trouble with the 10 gallon tank. In the 55 gallon i have live rock and a wet dry filter for filtration

IMO a sand bed will give you better water quality and allow for more healthier fish. Sand breeds the same beneficial bacteria that grow on liverock and in other biological filtration. Besides, aesthetically even a minimal layer of sand gives the tank a more natural look IMO. :notsure:

With reading about them I like the idea of BB tanks (my next tank will most likely have a BB in the display)... but there is also care that needs to be taken to ensure their success. From what I understand a LOT of flow is needed to limit the debris from settling, a good skimmer and I've read about a settling chamber to remove excess debris.
Anyway, do some research and hopefully someone with experience will come on and give some pointers.
