ORA only sells commercially so I think you may be ok. ORA is Oceans Reefs and Aquariums. They grow the best corals/fish and are generally very high quality. Theyre so good that they even have a few exclusive fish, like the

False Percula Clown (An occelaris with no stripes) and the Picasso Clowns.
Theyve got almost a monopoly on this so they charge what they want haha.

everything is aquacultured and certified. usually the ORA will be some of the brightest and most colorful morphs / strains of something you can get.

I was lucky enough to purchase some of ORA's frags at Macna in Pittsburg and let me tell you the greatest quality I have seen in a long time. I bought quite a few frags...couldn't pass them up.

Just kidding. Many reputable dealers, SWF included, are selling ORA stuff. I guess you would just have to trust what they say. As in any livestock or coral you look at, if it looks healthy and disease free, it should be good. ORA or not.

Well, I can say I know when it is ORA cause it is shipped from them. When I order from different vendors, most of the time they are carrying ORA or MAC certified and I know both are excellent pieces. My price list shows who is who and what is what.

heres my ORA blue tort

and ORA blue millepora

they do tend to have really nice stuff. also, if your looking for aquacultured frags look into The Coral Nursery (TCN) stuff as well. they have a lot of similar stuff thats just as nice.
heres a pic of my purple pillow from TCN. the color is a lot nicer in real life.

ok, yea, when buying from a vendor you can bet it is ora, but what about during trades and such?

no way to know from trades. a lot of people will just say ORA and try to fetch more money for it. the only thing that can help you is if you know exactly what the ORA strain looks like and compare it to a pic of what they are trying to trade. For example the ORA blue mille is a pretty dark blue with almost white polyp extensions, there are a lot of versions of blue mille, but that combination is always ORA.

all of the ORA corals I've bought from my LFS come on a black plastic plug that says "ORA" , or there older type plug which is usually tan/yellow in color and slender in size with ridges on it that kind of look like threads on a bolt.
