Orange Sun Coral

I was visting my LFS and I saw a beutiful coral called a sun coral. They had it in black and orange. I was a wonderful peice of coral. All I know about sun coral is that it lives in low lite. I need some more information on it please.

They don't require light, but they do need fed a few times per week. Very beautiful corals, especially when their polyps are out (only time you can feed them).

I agree. Keep in mind, the ONLY nourishment sun corals receive is your feedings. Their polyps are normally open at night, so feeding them can be inconvenient. Because if this, they are rather difficult to maintain over a long period of time.

I have both orange and black in my tank, the polyps are open 75% of the time...I feed them everyday, they get cyclopeeze, frozen mysis and sometimes frozen brine...I also feed marinesnow about 3 times a week...I have 4 banks of 24" aqualights (PC)....Mine are very happy, so is the rest of my coral... :)

They need to be target fed, it's not hard, but you need to make sure all the polyps get food...

alot of peoples will open anytime food goes into the tank. if i want to feed my i put some cyclopeez in the tank, wait about 10 minutes then hit the suncoral with a turkey baster and a food of choice.

Just enough to keep things from settling on it too easily, because if stuff gets between the polyps on the skeleton, that area of skeleton will die.

If You Don't Mind Feeding It 3-4 Times A Week. Only Takes 5 Min. You'll Love It.... Very Beautiful, Mine Is Probably My Fav. Coral In The Tank...
