Ordered LR From This Site

Hello, I just placed an order from here. How long does it take for them to process an order? How fast has everyone gotten theirs? I know it says 2-3 days for it to arrive, but I know every place is different. I ordered 20 lbs florida lr . I'm having it delv'd to my work so I can sign and then bring it home. How has the quality been from here? The sample pics look great, but just wondering how nice I will acutally get. Has anyone got any cool hitchikers on theirs? Or any pics of theirs? And how big of a box does it come in?

From what I understand the LR from this site is very good. I'm sure you'll have hitchhikers with it.

OOOhhhh goody goody!!! It says processing now so hopefully I'll get it tomorow or Friday. Yay!!! I'm so excited! I almost went with the cheaper haitian stuff on another site, but this stuff looks good.

SWF.com ships LR 2 day. If they don't ship it today, they won't ship it till Monday. I think processing means they are preparing it to ship today. Good Luck.

OOOH thanks Tizzo! I'm excited now!!! Yes Its scheduled for delv to my work on Friday. Perfect project for the weekend!! And so I get this right...I am setting up my boo boo tank (yea I tried my first sw tank in a 10 gallon) , I'm going to use some water that I take out of my tank for my weekly water change, and then make some new up, an extra filter, add an old heater (50 watt is all I have) and then I'm going to throw my piece'o'crap protein skimmer in there. Is that what it takes to cure it? Then I guess I wait for it to stop stinking, and after the ammonia spikes, wait until that and nitrite are at 0. Hoping this is it. I am so excited!! Hope I get some good pieces! By the way, what sizes did yours come in? I have like 13 lbs in there right now from my lfs, so I'm hoping i can junk the rainbow rock stuff, or maybe lay it down in the back as some base rock. Also got my first hob fuge today. 14". I'll be a busy girl this weekend! haha. Funny thing too, all excited about ordering and recieving rock at work today. People looked at me like I had 4 heads. Then when I told them it was ONLY $99, they looked at me like I had 8 heads. Little do they know....

Nope, not yet. I'm here at the office waiting! Plus I have nothing to do today here, so it sucks. Hopefully after it comes I can go right home! I will def take some pics. I'll post em here after I get home. Hopefully it'll be good!

Well I got the rock today. It is actually less than I expected, and I dont think that it is 20-25 lbs, actually seems like about 15 to me. There was 5 pieces, 3 fairly large, and 2 smaller ones. When I first opened the box I was disapointed, but once I got them out and rinsed them with sw and picked the dead stuff off, and then i brushed them a little with a toothbrush that I use for my tank, they actually look ok. They do have a little coraline on them, and there was like these little clam or oyster like thing attatched to them, and some algae. But other than that it was ok. Here are the pics....

I guess I was expecting a little more color, like the kind I got from my lfs, or the pics on the site, but hopefully it will look good once its in my tank.

The color and hitch hikers...they will come. I didn't see my urchin for months!! And my son found an unidentifyable crab almost an entire year after I added the last piece of rock!! And of course my coral, it took about 3 months before I saw it's first branch. I remember, I worried it was aiptasia!!

Wow! Well thats good news than. I'll hold out some hope! Underneath there was some pink colors I didnt have, so thats good. Boy they are stinkin! Haha, got them in curing now. How long does this part usually take? I know I have to wait for the ammonia spike to way up there, then the nitrites go up, and then after they drop its ok, right? Just dont want to mess anything up. :happyfish

I put mine in a rubbermaid bin, with 2 powerheads and a heater. It had a tight lid thank God!! I did a 75% water change every 2 or 3 days. It took about 2 weeks to cure. I got the precured stuff. I think if it's never been cured before, it takes longer.
Yeah, and I tested my ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. When all levels reach 0 the day after your last water change then it's OK to add to the tank.

Isn't that Florida aquacultured? You won't find the coraline on Fla rock that you get with other LR such as the fiji sold here. Also, Fla would be a lot denser, so less pieces makes up the poundage quantity that you bought.

Auuuh I see. Will the coraline spread from my other rocks to the new rocks over time?
Tizzo- Wishing I had gone with the rubbermaids. I just put it in my old 10 gallon, with some new water, the filter, and a heater, and PPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHEEEWW!!!!!!!! P U!!!! Its gross. Thank god its in the one of our spare bedrooms!! Hope the smell goes away a little. I already just tested the water, an ammonia was at 2.0. So I guess thats good!

What are you talking about, you mean you don't like that smell? :nope:
Coraline will grow, or won't grow depending on your tank conditions and lighting. As you advance in reef-keeping something very strange will occur. That coraline you used to love and strive to achive, will no longer be desirable [or, at least, not in the uniform layers that is often prized]. Werid, but true.

HaHa, I did the same thing with my LR I got from here. Put it a rubbermaid bucket in my kitchen, with PH and heater and a cheap fitting top. My husband came downstairs in the morning and yelled at the dog because he thought he had an accident in the house! My poor dog!!!
