Liz, some ppl on here like them others HATE them.. Noisy and just plain don't work after a couple days/weeks. There was a discussion on here about them and 1 person said he liked his and it had been working for months. Good luck to ya. You could look injto a SCWD (pronounced squid) I think thats the abbreviation.

I just can't seem to beat the cyano... I am going to buy a few more test kits tonight and do another water change and get a higher power power head....
just frustrated.
Thank You,

I use something called a "FLO Rotating Deflector". The unit attaches to the outflow of your power head and rotates via water power. They run abround 10-15 dollars depending on where you buy.

Well I dont' know if it is the same thing you are talking about but I have a powersweep powerhead/wavemaker. It moves back and forth and has a deflector on it. I paid 27 for it (I have the larger one). I like it. However, my tank is still cycling so I don't have any life in the tank yet except the LR so I don't know how it will be with fishes in it...

Yea, I have the same one, a powersweep powerhead. I got it used from a friend couple of months old), eventually it stopped working on it's own and I recplaced it with a aquaclear 802. I tried to fix it/clean it but to no aval; Wasn't to enthusiastic with it's performance.

Wow! Thanks for the video.... One question for you, is the water coming out the top or the front as well ?
I ask because in the article that I read it said that "turbulent" water motion was better then a steady stream for corals because it was more like a crashinig wave..
Thanks!

Wow that looks cool. It is so smooth. YOu can even see the water flowing. My powersweep puts air into the water which is ok, but I dont' know how fish will like it when I get them.

I second that I have had mine for nine months or so and it is still going strong. I have to clean it out about as often as my CPR skimmer pumps (but they are RIO's so no suprise there) or once every three months or so.

I had a power sweep as well and mine stopped sweeping within weeks of purchase. My deflector will occasionally stick but it is goin on 9 months old and probably is just in need of a good scrubbing.

Comes out the front, but since it rotates,it comes out the front 360 °.The more gph the pump/powerhead you use,the faster it will spin.
Mine used to have some gunk on it,I also had (can't find) a video of a turbo snail on it,going around,around....The snails will go to it,once a week, and clean it good.
