I thought I was heading in the right direction because I only had another 3 1/2 months till I go home. I contacted my unit back in the states and found out that I will be back over here for 7 months in September. Get home in March leave again in September Grrrrrrrrr!!!!! This one is gonna be hard to swallow for the wife and kids.

dude where are ya in baghdad? one company from my bn is down there and alot of my infantry reg is down there. i wont say exactly what the unit is over the net, but i went and visited them in june. i am currently about 40 miles north in balad, at an old airfield
i know the feeling of what you are going through. my original orders were for 365 days total. well as time has gone on, it is now 365 days with boots on the ground in theater. so needless to say ive been in this dump since feb 10th, and will be here till feb 10th of next year.
anyways just know that everyone has been getting the short end of the stick over here. it all sucks. oh and i am a former marine myself (0311), and believe me, the corps isnt nearly as bad as the way i and my unit has been treated by the army.
good luck with everything man. just keep your head down.

Keep yourself safe.
I can't believe these reports of you guys getting attacked so often.
I don't know what to say yet I want to say so much.
I know of others that are there and others that are back.
I don't want to know of anyone that don't make it back.
Keep yourself safe.:(

Maybe you can change squadrons when you get back or something like that. That's just not right. My step-son's orders have been changed a little and his squadron doesn't leave Miramar for Iraq until February. I'm glad he'll get to stay with his wife and son over the holidays. He just got back in August from a 6 month float in Okinawa that lasted a year.:( Hang in there though, we appreciate you and are proud of you for what you do for our country.

yeah i remember mike christoff.
i ran into a marine i worked with at mcu quantico while i was in transit down in qatar.
its amazing how small the military is.
well good luck man, i just wish they would get their act together and just figure out a decent rotation plan for over here. stay safe down there and good to see you on the board.
ps now that you mention it i do remember you on this board. the sand and sun from the past summer has really fried my brain, sorry im a little slow.

Ah, jeeze, sorry about that news. My cousin who just got home after two years being gone. They told him 1 year from T-day 2001. T-day 2002 they said "up to another year...... )
He just got home about 2 months ago. Almost a full 2 years. The one thing he said was he was glad they didn't send him home and re-deploy him. he'd rather stay and go with it. He did get a 3 week leave. That helped a little. Its tough and you guys and the family left behind. Especially jobs, kids, school. Fortunately my cousins wife did have her family to fall back on.
Keeping you guys in our thoughts. Be safe and keep your head down. They are playing dirty these days. :(
