Richard,
No doubt Joe Satriani is one of the great legendary guitar players, although he does not necessarily fit into my theme here.
Here's another hint.

Bonnie Raitt and her dad Buddy Holly.roflmao I thought it was rather creative the way I answered the Jeff Beck question, by makin my own Jeff Beck avatar.....:D

At least I' figured out how to find pics and make them into avatars and so far the theme is still "music I used to own before Brian stole it to make avatars";)

LOL
I did not steal anything :D debi !!!!
And you making the Beck avatar was a real mind thumper - took me awhile to figure that one out ( don't have the CD LOL ) !
So far you guys are really good - getting them all right !
But ... there's still a commonality among these musicians.
Here's a new avatar :p

You guys are good !
I'm still hoping that someone will pick up on the common thing among all these great guitar players.
Here's one of my favorites as some of you I'm sure already know ;)

That's Jimi, not Jimmy and oh man am I dating myself but when I was little kid, my aunt booked all the talent for the concerts around here and I got to see Jimi Hendrix, too bad I was too young to appreciate it at the time. I'll come back and play later, got stuff to do now.
Brian, I thought you'd catch on to my "avatar answer" real quick :D

OK a quick thought.....Is Dark Side of the Moon part of the common thread?.....if not and I was going for something fairly obscure, I might say all muscians that have played with The Band.
Entice - common theme = most rented rock star halloween costumes:eek: ????

So far it looks like they're all playing Fenders, but I can't quite tell if they're all Strats. I know Jimi, SRV, Clapton, and Bonnie Raitt in her picture play them, but I don't remember what Buddy Holly was playing in that picture. But a Fender theme, and more specifically, a Strat theme is my guess.

Standard tuning is E A D G B E right ?
E----thinnest----1st string

[hr]
B

[hr]
2nd string

[hr]
G

[hr]
3rd string

[hr]
D

[hr]
4th string

[hr]
A

[hr]
5th string

[hr]
E--6th string

[hr]
thickest----
So first DROP each string down ONE full step
This will give you
D
A
F
C
G
D
Then just drop your thickest sting ( 6th ) down one more full step to a C
This will give you the "drop C" tuning that you're looking for.
D
A
F
C
G
C

very good Mossad327
Yes ! The common theme ~ Fender Stratocaster guitar is the instrument of choice by many of these fine guitar players.
Richie Sambora and Buddy Guy were my next hints LOL
I've wanted a "real" Strat for so long - longer than you can imagine.
This year my wife gave me one for Christmas :D
An American Strat - so it certainly has been on my mind.
Nice job
And now - an appropriate avatar :p

Wrassecal - I just remembered. Broomer, correct me if this is just a coincidence with the rest of the hints, but Dark Side of the Moon was part of the game because David Gilmour played a Strat.
