OT: Honeymoon Destination

I need some ideas for a honeymoon destination. I am getting married next September. I would like to find a place that is romantic and relaxing and fit for a good honeymoon, but also that has great reef scuba diving.
I have never been scuba diving, but we plan to take lessons this summer before we go.
Any ideas? I know we have some scuba divers out there.
I was kind of thinking of avoiding the Carribean since September is hurracane season.

We got married on the island of Kauai, HI. I'm not a diver, but we did a lot of snorkling. That time of your is their off season, so you may be able to get some better rates.
Congratulations on your up coming marriage:)

Hawaii is awsome... but I would also recommend Kauai (last island in the chain). The other islands are great, but I liked Kauai because it was the least "touristy".

is over-rated . . . . and dangerous unless you are a strong swimmer.

Can't go wrong with HI. But Grand Cayman (I know its Carib)
BUT they have awesome diving/snorkling. We actually went in September (our anniversary) and the weather was great.
Congrats!!

Waikiki Beach, Oahu was very nice when I went. It is very touristy though. Great waves as well if your a surfer.

Do you think the concern about the carribian in september is valid?
I was thinking south pacific. Maybe Figi, Tahiti, Cook Islands, etc. There are hundreds of small chains there, some more lavish than others.

Hurricane season is east of florida in september.
We went west on a cruise to Grand Cayman and other ports september of 95. Remember storm Opal? It chased us for a little bit. 10 foot swells. Have you ever tried to putt in 10 foot swells? Thats another story. We went snorkeling there, it was great.
(Don't buy silver off the streets, it's plated.;) )

i have been fortunate enough to dive in alot of these places Hawaii is fun, but dont go there for the diving. if you go to hawaii go see the volcanoes, sit on the beach, and dive once or twice. the diving there is not really that great. (only cool thing i saw was 2 dragon eels... rest was boring)
the carribean....
screw hurricane season. this place is the best! I have been to turks and caicos islands, jamaica, caymans, virgin islands and st. martin... and the bahamas. all great places to dive but nothing in the world compares to the Caymans. The diving there is excellent. literally 200 feet of visibilty. anyways it is the best... i highly reccomend it... words cannot explain this place. seven mile beach on grand cayman is sweet too. and all you can eat lobster tails and double deckers restuarant. its amazing
Fiji... would love to go there but not safe b/c i am an american citizen.

We have been to Cancun and Caymen in September. Caymen is awesome like I said. They have a wall that you can snorkle or dive. My cousin brought his dive grear and didn't have words to describe it. He said it came close to Autrailia reef. (not near the size, but you get the point)
IF you have the money, I would kill to go to Figi, Cook Islands.
I have a calendar that has all of these islands for the months. One is better than the next. Look up Timesedwards, he went to the maldives and that looks like a little slice of heaven. His website has some pics too.
Can't wait to here where you decide. :D

BTW, this is a honeymoon first, with some diving as a source of adventure.
Midwest. I don't get your comment about Fiji? I have not heard anything bad about americans getting mistreated.

i was told not too long ago on a dive boat in florida that there is soem type of al quida connection to fiji... could be completely wrong too. im not for sure just what i heard

If you are going for the romantic, quiet, secluded type, my vote is for an island called Mauritius (pronounced mar-oosh-us) in the indian ocean off the coast of africa. I assure you that this place is one of the most beautiful places in the entire world. Hands down, words simply cannot describe it. Puts the caribbean to shame . . . .
Another place that is simply stunning is New Zeeland, fantastic place. Costa Rica is also beautiful . . . .
I've been to a lot of places, probably more than most people. There is only once continent that I have yet to set foot on and I think that you can figure out which one it is . . . . one of my favorites will always be mauritius. The diving is amazing too.
