OT - My new computer

I received a new computer this morning. Dell 2.8mhg, 1GB RAM, and the best part of all…. the BIG 18" flat panel.
Notice the appropriate background.

I have a 21 inch.....it is as big as a TV, and just as heavy....I am jealous. I have noticed flat screens coming way down in price, and I do have a comp USA card......hmmmmmm I just found out that the 3 GHz mark has been broken.....I am like a caveman over here...

they arent that bad in price anymore.. (especially when its not my money!) I am the technology coordinator for a school and I bought 17" flat screens for the all the administration and two 19" flat screens, one for me and one for the boss!

I have a tiny 17" flat screen that I bought at BJ's for $400 last year. Tigerdirect.com has pretty good deals on them.
Bradttu, Is that a screensaver or just the background?

Reef fool - It is just a Windows XP background, there is one more that I can take a pic of on Monday. It looks like you are in a reef. It's sweet!
splash1914 - Same here, Texas Tech University bought mine. I do web / graphic design, hardware, network, etc. for TTU. I love the new toys. I am waiting on an 8 bay multi-CD burner. Have you ever used one?

I just found that one on my computer(the Copperbanded butterfly w/ yellow tangs). I would like to see the other. I don't have a reef background. Just a starfish one.

Hahahah, I just got my dell for my B day, 2 ghz, 512 rd ram, 128 mb ati radeon 9700 pro... 17 inch sony sb71 i think for $400

Are your Dell's any good? I haven't had very good experience with them in the past. Had them where I used to work and they crashed every 5 minutes. And that sucked cause they were used for the cash registers. Also haven't had very good luck with Gate Way. My husband has one that with what it has should be faster than my HP but it is the slowest computer I have ever seen. I love my HP and HP Laptop.

Rock on! I have one at my house, but not at work. I am going to try and get them to purchase an external DVD burner next.
The multi-burner is awsome. You put the master CD in and then write the .iso file from it. Then put 8 blank CDs in and burn all 8 at one time. It should be at my office in about two weeks.

I had a Gateway until yesterday when my Dell came in. I can't complain about it at all. It would do everything I needed it to do without a problem. I had HP's and Compaq computers in the past and I always had trouble with them. My personal computer at home, I built myself. You can save a TON of money like that. I built my uncle a 1.4GHz, 256MB RAM, CD-RW Drive, 80GB Hard Drive, etc. for just under $400.00 before Thanksgiving.

bradttu, I've been throwing together systems for people for awhile now too......it's actually starting to not save much money anymore. PCs are getting cheaper now. Man it's getting hard to keep up with the jones' .
Takes about two months now to be outdated.

I love my system, only thing I don't have yet is a dvdrw, splash, you lucky dog. But will real soon.
I really love the lcd flats, but for game system, they are not that good right yet, but are getting better.
I run a computer store, and hehehe(sammy you are gonna love this one)

Amd is soon going to release 4 gig system, from what I understand, and supposedly we willhave to get the board from AMD for a while. They do not intend to release the info right away. Projected price is supposed to be about 1000 for mobo and processor.
I cna't wait.
