This is our International Champion "Lancelot". He was retired a couple of years ago and enjoys the slow life now.

Not much too it really. My wife got into it as a hobby. With a miniature schnauzer, it's about 3 hours of prep time for 2 minutes in a ring hoping to move up to get points. She finally got tired of the traveling and preping so she hired a handler to finish him in the U.S. She did show him herself when he was ranked as an international champion which is register in Germany.
These are great dogs if you like a 200 lb dog in a 20 lb body. Not that great with small kids though. Some are, but the line he came from has a little aggresive streak.

Hey Tang....
Congrats on your dogs "International Championship" title,
however, I know you stated that its your wife that
is into the showing, so Im sure she knows this, but, just
for your knowledge, an "International Championship"
title means that the dog has obtained a championship
title in more than one country, not that its a registry in
Germany...it is an excellent accomplishment, and like
I said before, CONGRATULATIONS, GOOD WORK...
BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL....

My friend has a Mini-Snaucher or however you spell it. It's a pretty cool dog, but he did have an attitude towards other dogs.

I'm sure you are correct. I did go to the shows at first, but the politics involved in dog showing were just too much for me. I think the actual certificate came from Germany. She showed him over a weekend in a specialty show in Orlando Florida. Your dog was just judged and given points based on criteria. He got the required points over a period of 2 days. It was totally different than regular shows where you have to advance to the points match. I was proud of her though.
It's amazing what a well groomed and posed champion looks like compared to a dirty, shaggy and retired photo. That's our champion on the left. His son is on the right. That litter was the reason for his retirement. He had sired several champions before this litter, but 3 pups in this last litter had heart murmers. We discovered it came down from his line so we did the proper thing and had him fixed. He is just enjoying the good life these days. His son (Galahad) is fine and also fixed to make sure we don't pass on the defect.

Hey TangMan....
Im impressed....fixing your show dogs because of a
genetic defect that is being passed onto the offspring....
Very ethical thing to do ..... by doing this you have
decreased the propensity to produce more dogs with
cardiac problems....excellent....eventually, this cardiac
problem in your lines will be rendered recessive if the
other puppies are cardiac tested and found not to be
a carrier of the disease....the dams should also be tested....
If you would like to read more information on this
topic....go to.....www.offa.org.
Some genetic flaws will never be eliminated but by doing what you did, can be controlled through selective breeding and pedigree research....Good move.... its nice to see people with ethical practices over the mighty dollar....
In the show ring...with the right handler, a pot-bellied pig
can be walked into the ring and walk out with a 5 point major.
The politics sometimes are too much and that is why
alot of people get turned off to showing....
Where in Fla. are you located ?
Your dogs are beautiful and good luck with them....
Regards...

MarineRock,
I know exactly what you mean. I watched a handler finish a miniature schnauzer that we all nicknamed schnau-zilla as it was about 15" at the shoulder. Anything over 14" in out of standard and can't be shown. The handler was a judge so no one dared call for a measurement and the owner of this dog paid her several thousand dollars to finish it. It was a joke. At least my wife put every point on our dog except for the show where he finished. It also took over a year so you know it was honest.
And believe me, we tested every dog and checked every line involved. It was no doubt that the problem came from his line. Fortunately our best friend that owns that line agreed that we needed to end that line right away. She owned the female that was from another line. We had all the puppies fixed and sent them to pet homes. It is definitely not about the money. It is about the breed.
MarineRock, Feel free to email me at My email if you would like to talk some more so as not to hog the thread.
