OT... need your prayers...

My 18 month old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia yesterday morning.
There is a 90%+ success rate for this type of leukemia (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). That's encouraging but of course when you are talking about the life of your child, anything less than 100% is truly terrifying.
And it's a long road for her, with 2 years and 1 month of chemo treatments ahead. We are really lucky to live in the Boston area, with some of the best oncology specialists in the world.
She begins her chemo tonight. It's amazing how much the world has changed in 48 hours. This time on Friday I was 'stressing' about getting all my Christmas shopping done. Now I just want to laugh because I thought THAT was important.
Those of you with kids, please hug them extra tight tonight and know how blessed you are that they are healthy. And please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear of this. I have a 3 year boy in my church that was just diagnosed with the exact same type of Leukemia. He's already started treament but has a long way to go. I will add you to our player list.
In 1995 I was diagnosed with an actively aggresive tumor in my tibia. This is a precancerous growth so I was fortunate to not have to have any chemo only surgery. However, the surgery was unblievable tough. I now have about 1 foot of someone else's tibia in my leg. Anyway, the hardest thing for me was fighting off cabin fevor and the disappointment of not going home when I thought I would. So keep her entertained as much as possible.

I don't know you or your family, but i sure hope everything works out well for you. I have two prescious daughters and one on the way. Good luck and best wishes. My family will be thinking about you in your sad time.

I'll put you in my prayers. Iknow what you are going through as we nearly lost our grandson when he was born, he spent 4 weeks in neonatal ICU. It was touch and go for a while. Thank God he pulled thru and is doing good 3 1/2 yrs later. Good luck and God be with you.

:nope: I'm sooo sorry to hear your news and and although I don't have any children, I can kind of relate to what you're going through. My family recieved their "blow" about a month ago when my 27 yr old brother was diagnosed with hodgkin's disease ( lymph cancer). I know it is extremely hard but just try to keep a positve outlook, and don't get yourself too overstressed, although your main concern right now is your daughter, don't forget yourself too.

i also am very sorry to hear your news. keep positvie thoughts. i was diagnosed with MS 15 years ago and it is a struggle. we have had 3 deaths in our family in the last 3 years including my mother, brother and brother-in-law. things have really been tough. your little girl will be strong and pull through, keep the faith.

My prayers are with you and your daughter. She will beat this! I agree with you, that anything short of 100% is scary, but 90% is a huge number when talking about survival rate, and she will do great! IT is absolutely amazing how far cancer treatments have come.
