if you wanna talk about spam, you can get some help from me =) i work for ---- and our spam killer software, filters anywhere from 60-90% of emails daily. on average... half a million junk emails each day.
most isp have filtering systems for this. if you continue to get loads of spam, you should think about changing your isp or email service providers. they key to keep yourself from spam...
1. dont sign up for sweepstakes or prizes etc... all it is, is a email collecting engine.
2. dont use simple email address like "john@swf.com", spammers have software to randomly send out messages to typical email addresses.
3. never reply to a spam email, if you do... all your doing is confirming that your email address is valid to them.
4. when you get an email with links you dont know. dont click on it, once you click on it... it will take you to a website and you'll end up confirming your email address to that site. also, since last year... many people have been infected of viruses by visiting a virus embeded website. so, if it's suspicious... dont bother with it.
5. when you get emails with "remove me from mailing list", dont click on it. 60% of the time, theyll continue to spam, since its a valid address.
*once the spammer knows an email address is valid, they compile it and sell those email address to other spammers. thats how it all works....
