OT: Who is in The Military

I am a Fire Fighter for the Air Force. I have been in military for 12 years with the first 6 as a member of the 82nd Airborne. I got tired of being all I could be so I aimed high and went into the Air Force.
I will VERY soon be deploying overseas. I just wanted to give a big thanks to all of you who have taken the same oath as me and are willing to protect this great nation at all cost.
To all of your non-military people please remember that there is someone who is often forgotten and not giving the credit they deserve. It is the spouse/family of the military member. My wife and the wife of others have had to sacrifice almost as much as we have ourselves. Besides the support and comfort they give us they must also take care of the bills, kids, pets, tanks and a bunch of other problems that only seem to come up when we are deployed. They do all of this while knowing that we are in harms way. So to all of you military spouses/families I want to say thanks for your great service and sacrifice. Please everyone the next time you see someone who has a spouse or family member in the military give them a little praise for what they do.

Brother was a marine. He was killed 7 years ago in a mid-air collision. One DAMN fine soldier- He was in the Marines Flight Program. He was a pilot and was going to fly the F-18.

Yep. I can attest to him being good people too. My pops was in Marine Recon.
And that kicks a$$ you were in the 82nd. Did you know Jimi Hendrix was an All American till he broke his ankle on a jump?

I retired out of the Navy 6 yrs ago, I was over there off the coast bombing the hell out of them the last time, I only wish that we would have taken care of the nut then, we would not have to worry about him now. My thoughts and prayers are with the men and women who are doing the job to protect our freedom, and to their wife, husbands, children and family that are missing them. Thanks to all that serve our country.

Ihave 2 sons that are Marines. One is deployed to Kuwait and one is stationed at Okinawa. Wierd part is the one on forward area deployment runs the supply for Harriers and only uses a computer for his work as an asset manager. The one in Okinawa is a crew chief on a CH53. I thought he was the one I'd have to worry about.

MY cousin addney, is one the kennedy. LUCKILY, and i am very glad, something went wrong on his ship, so they cam home. They cant go back into Iraq until the ship gets fully repaired and can get going (8 more minths). I dont know why he cant go back into Iraq for 8 more months, well the ship is huge, houses 5000people, so im assuming the repairs would take awhile. But i dont have a problem with him staying at home for 8 more
months!

Kgrimes--sorry to hear about your father. What a loss that must be for you. He sounds like quite a man. A similar type thing happened to my only cousin many years ago. Maybe someday in this violent world of ours, there will be peace.
