Other fish?

What other type of fish can go with seahorses? I am setting up my new tank for horses but don't want to put them in for a long time, so what else can I put in there?

I have a small maroon clown with mine. He does a real good job of cleaning up any leftover pieces of mysis. I will keep an eye on him as he gets older though as they become quite territorial as they mature. If I wasn't afraid of the ponies getting stung (or ate) I would probably add an anemone to this tank to keep him company.

I know I am going to put mandarins and scooters in there but I will have to wait a while for those also. We thought about maybe getting something and before putting the horses in there, transfer them into my other tank. But I wasn't sure how many other fish there were that could go with the horses.

How large of a tank do you have? I would not recommend putting a Scooter Blenny or Mandarin in anything less than 75 gallons and then only if you have at least 75 to 100 pounds of live rock. The tank should be well established and full of pods before adding these fish. These fish hunt and eat continuously and will starve to death once they've wipe out your pod population. I had two in a well established 46 gallon tank that died after they cleaned out all the pods (took almost 5 months, but they still died from starvation). I now have three (male and female Mandarin and a red Scooter) in a 200 (+25G refugem full of pods) and they appear to be doing okay.

I have a mandarin and a scooter in my 45. I have had them almost a year and they both eat frozen. I feed 3-4 times a day. I haven't had a problem. I know everyone says if you get one that eats frozen you are lucky. I know everyone also says 100lbs. of live rock, however I got them after I read they could go into a much samller tank. Then I read on here about the 100 gal and 100# of lr. But they seem to be doing fine...

Jawfish, Perc clowns, firfish gobies, six line wrasse, Coral beauty angelfish....Mandarin/scooter goby, Watchman goby, all should be fine, I have kept all with horses in a "smaller" set up like what you are describing.

What I am planning---- I have 60 lbs of LS, will get my live rock along with cheato and let my tank sit for a while, then after I have a pod population established I will put in my Mandarins and scooters. I do not have a fuge or sump so my plan is to put the cheato in covered in the live rock. That should make a good breeding ground for the pods. THink it will work?

I would give it a good 6 months to ayear...Seahorses and mandarins will deplete the pod pop quickly together with only 60lbs of live rock....depends on the style rock also, the more porous the better.
