Hate to make this into a car discussion and I do have alot of respect for the old Cameros LOTR, but (aside from something as tweeked as yours) my 3.2TL will stay with or beat most anything on the road....and I'll be driving it 200K miles from now.
Oh yeah, other hobbies include bonsai, three kids, my wife, a house, five cars.....and they're all expensive!

During the good weather... wheeling, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, fishing... almost anything outdoors.
During the winter I like to camp out on my couch in front of my home theater with a good movie and lots of food.

So much debating over this "car" issue :D I own and manage a performance muffler shop, and everyday we put Flowmaster on Mustangs/Camaro, SUV and Greddy's on Honda/Toyotas. Any car can go 70 or 100 mph. I think they are all good.
A Camaro/Mustang GT sure is powerful and fast, but a modified 4 banger can also match it. a friend used to have a tiny civic hatchback that went 11.6 on a quartermile at Sear's point race track. ;) I think it's how one defines a performance car.
In U.S. we take a great deal about speed and acceleration, In Asia/Europe most people are into "drifting" with modified 4 banngers. speed/power is one thing, car's stability in cornoring and able to stop in timely manner is also important. very often we add after market parts on New Camaro to increase its stability control; and all the time we are beefing little 4 cylinders and double its horsepower. So theres pro and cons of each. I hope i am not creating a lot of angers. Let's just get along. :D

LOTR-
damn nice car. you don't buy a fast car for the fuel economy, i don't care how many cylinders it has. you ought to be buying a fast car because you enjoy driving.
and btw, i hope none of you have automatics in your sports cars. that's one of my biggest pet peeves, the vipers, vettes, camaros, Z3's, or any other sports cars that have junkomatics shifting all those ponies. i am of the opinion that you can much better appreciate the power and feel of the car when you shift it yourself.
