OTing

Ok i know all of yall (most) hate your lfs, well in my case im extremely lucky. I drive an our out of my way for my lfs and its because over the past few years ive gotten close to this guy, he knows his stuff, hes part of all these forums and hes not trying to make money, he has his store for hobbyist. he sells his stuff for what he pays for plus 10% so by no means is he just trying to make a sale. Anyway on to my question. If i want a fish, i tell him what i want and within 3 days its at his store. He wont let me take him home for atleast 3 weeks after he has it in his store. Do yall think that i should still QT the fish after i get him home??? If so, for how long?

If he is that good, ask him if he would QT a fish from his store before putting into his home tank. Would be interesting to see what he says.

Ya I mean i do trust him, he helped me set the tank up, and now comes monthly to check it out, he helped me through a terrible ich issue thank came from deal with 3 lfs, since left the other two....
Funny that you asked about what he do and he doesn't have a home tank just HIS tanks at the store which are a 480g fowlr and an incredible 120 reef and he has a 90 QT tank for all the fish that my new one would go into??

sorry and he QTs them in hte same OT that he puts my fish in for about three weeks. He does this for anyone that asks him to that doesnt have a QT. In the back room alone he has that 90 QT and 2 55g OTs....

Personally, I would still QT. I'd probably keep the fish in QT for less time if I really trusted the guy, but if you have a QT, wouldn't you rather be safe than deal w/ an ich outbreak again, or possibly something even worse?

Most back room QTs have fish going in and out all the time; defeating the purpose. I QT everything, always. (3 weeks QT time isn't long enough anyway.)
