out of control exena

anyone know how to keep xena under control. i started off with a small clump now it is all over my tank some patches ar 2 ft round i have been fragging some that come off easy and selling them to my lfs but its not enough

All you can do is cut it out and do so as close to the surface it's attached too. If you leave too much tissue, it can grow back. My neigbor had out of control xenia for years and he just traded in with the LFS for credit. You may also want to consider that.

From looking at the pictures, it seems you have a very nutrient rich environment; Xenia loves nitrates and dirty water.
Have you run any water tests? What were the results?

i have to say i havent....my tank has been pristine for over a year last month i noticed a few problems.....slime algea started forming, flatworms out of control (my rockks are orange) i have been sucking them up every other day or so so i can get to a managable level to use flat worm exit. i am currently cleaning everything a little everyday hope to have a 50 gallon water change and all pumps cleaned of by friday. the exzena has been growing for about 6 months. i will check my water tomorrow.

i would also like to rid my tank of xenia other then scraping it from the rocks any other ideas ? my tank is mostly softies would i risk losing my poylps and mushrooms or leather if i put in some butterfly fish to eat the xenia

I had a small start of xenia where I didn't want it and used Joe's Juice on it. It has been 3+ weeks and no sign of them coming back. I certainly wouldn't want to use it all over my tank but it worked well (at least so far) for the small spot.
