over kill??

hey is it over kill to have 400 watt.m/halide on a 55 g i could'nt help myself and how high should i put the light for acclimation

400 watts is alot of light. It will limit you to very light demanding corals. Acclimation should be slow, I always use the screen method. get some window screens from HD and put about 4 on top of each other and then every week pull one off.
