overflow

hi,
i have a pre-drilled tank with an overflow. i drilled a hole in the return line so that if i had a power outage, my sump wouldnt overflow. the hole is located on the return line inside the overflow, so when my return pump is on, it sprays a small amount of water into the overflow. will this be a problem later on?
thanks

If it is what I am envisioning, no. I have a return that shoots out a bit of water from this hole but it is into the tank. You could see some salt creep due to it. But so long as it is staying in the tank :) you should be ok, IMO.

thanks, i decided to silicone the hole because i have a 75 gallon with a 55 gallon sump, and the water level in the sump is half way allowing 25 gallons to flow down (1/3 of the dt)
