The temp in my 24g Aquapod rose to 82F while I was at work. I have a few corals, 2 feather dusters, 2 damsels, CB shrimp, Purple Lobster, some hermits, a Queen Conch, some emerald crabs, and 2 anenomes. The main problem is one of the dusters. He has vacated his tube. The crown looked ok last night(still attached to the worm) but this morning the crown looks to be fading and the worm is getting a whitish color to it. What should I do? Is he dying/dead? Should I remove the tube? How do I keep the temp down in an Aquapod? I know the corals, among other things, really need the light, but I know that is what is making the temp rise. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much
Claire

Sometimes feather dusters just drop their crown, and grow a new one. Theres a Aquapod fan mod that most people do, just go to the nano forum of the main reef forum site. Also, 82 degrees isnt really that hot, I keep my reef at 81-83.

What temp do you normally keep your tank at? Like Fed said, I keep my tank at 80. So 82 is not that high.

My lfs told me that most corals are happiest at about 78F. So that has been where I have been keeping it. I guess its more the sudden rise that concerns me. That and the duster. Since he left his tube--should I remove the tube? Or will cleanup crew take care of that? What about the worm itself (with the crown still attached) How will I know if he is dead? I read somewhere about burying him in the sand until he regenerates a tube??
Any advice would really be appreciated. I'm afraid of losing everything!!!!!
Thanks

if your have 2 fans in your aquapods hood flip one around.so one is blowing air and one is sucking this should help your heat problem. If that dosent then sent up a small as unit in the room where the tank is or set up a fan next to the tank blowing on it.and fyi when your flip one of the fans be sure to clean it about once a month so it dosent go out from having damp salt laden air blow over it.
