might have a heat issue with that one I would look at a 150 or so instead of the 175. really depends on the maker and hoe much air circulation that you have around the hood and tank on weither it will be an issue. The next issue will be placement of corals because they can burn if the light is to intense and MH are the most intense of them all.

Is a Current USA SunDial HQI Pendant Metal Halide with 1x150w MH and 2x32w actinic lights good? Do you think it would burn any corals if i mounted it 8" above my tank? Also should I have my tank covered?
Thanks

I wouldnt cover the tank it decreases Oxygen exchange and traps the heat in the tank. as far as the lighting. I think that would be a better option for a 20 than the 175 watters. as far as corals youll have to place them and acclimate them to the new lighting. especially if they come out of another tank that had less lighting.

Could be done and corals would survive. You would have to acclimate them to the intense light as mentioned above.
The problem would be the heat issue. Make sure you get plenty of airflow across the bulbs and water for cooling. You will loose a lot to evaporation so you may want to think of some sort of auto topoff system if you cant add a gallon or so of RO daily.

Just curious as to why you would want to spend all that money?? On a 20 gallon tank, you would get adequate light from one of the new power compacts or t-5 systems with less heat, less cost and more convenience.
Save the MH for your next BIG tank!
