I had a baby pagoda cup that started growing from a xenia colony. It was about an inch across...Some time last night the hermit crab mys have knocked off my green favites and it landed upside down on the pagoda....most of the "cup" is now melted away...
Will it grow back from the base?
thanks for any help

as long as no secondary infection kills it it can recover. the problem with sensative corals that get sting damaged is the nematocysts get into the flesh any flesh that doesnt receed but may have nematocysts in it may be a vector for secondary bacterial or protozoan infection. also when a coral gets stressed the bacterial colonies inhabiting the surface of the coral shift potentially being another vector for secondary infection. but it may regrow from the base.

Half of him melted away and I took a syringe and jetted off all of the loos stuff that was left, so I guess I'll just wait and see
thanks for the advice

keep a good flow on it and clean the necrosis off of it. Like stated as long as a secondary infection doesn’t set in it should slowly recover.
Any flesh that looks dead or is dead and as not fallen away, you will have to cut it away so as it dies it doesn’t continue to kill off healthy flesh.
You really don’t want any debris to lay on it.
Good luck
