Pagoda cup coral questions

Does Pagoda cup coral need to be spot fed? I have two references telling me different things. One says it feeds from the water current and the other says feed shrimp twice a day. I just ordered the coral and should arrive tomorrow.
I thought I had done my homework.
Any suggestions from someone who has one now, or has had one in the past?….

I have a few hidden cup coral.. are they the same thing? If so from what I have read, they will filter feed. If you want them to grow faster feed them. I've been feeding one of mine mysis once a week and it now has 4 smaller ones growing out around its base :) (over about a 3 month period)

I don't feed them.

Thanks for the quick reply. My book says place anywhere. I had a spot picked up high, but when I googled Pagoda cup it says to place low in the tank away from the lights...what do you suggest?
Like I said...two very different opinions...

i have mine in a low to medium flow area. i never fed mine, but i am sure u could since the polyps r quite large. very tough coral imo, bc i hv moved it numerous times while rearranging. here is a pic of mine surrounded by the two clams.

Stanlalee, in picture #2…there is a big long worm….submit your picture to Cranberry for an ID, it looks like a coral eater to me. I am no expert, but just to be sure…she is.
Also I was expecting a bluish color to the Pagoda cup, in the first picture it looks as expected, but I see two pictures, one is your and the other belongs to nycbob, where it looks pale…comment?

I have one on the bottom of my 155G. I used to spot feed it, now I don't and have not noticed any difference in growth/health, etc. It's in a high light spot, but at the bottom and in medium/medium high flow. I've had it in other spots throughout the tank, as long as it's got medium flow, it does adjust to the lighting. If you want it in a higher lighting spot, I'd just start it at the bottom and gradually move it up. The only thing that I noticed was that it seems to be bluer when it's on the lower end of the tank and more green or tan when placed towards the top.
Good luck

Thank you all for your help. Looks like my book has the same info you guys have offered, except it offered no answer about the color, for that I thank you. LOL...google does not know everything I guess. It caused me so much stress, I didn't know who to believe....You guys/gals are the greatest.

hitch hiker brittle star. been in the tank for a year and has trippled its size. not a coral or fish eater. it catches detritus/small food particles with the hairs on its arms/legs. harmless.

My eyes are not so good, all I see is one long line like a worm, and I wanted to point it out just in case it was. Sorry for the alarm, and thanks for all your help.
