painted back of tank, ouch.

I painted the back of my tank flat black. I painted it with spray paint. Now that it is dry I notice that there were some oil stains from hands that are under the coat. I did wash the glass with viniger and water before I painted but I guess I didn't wash well anough. Should I try to remove the paint with paint thinner and a razor blade? I was thinking that I could just put a sheet of acrylic inside the tank against the back. There are four bulkheads in the back that could hold the sheet on. Any comments or ideas for me in my troubles?

dang, that sucks.....
I spent a great deal of time scraping off paint on the back of a 140g tank when I got it. It wasn't fun, telling you that. I used "lift off" paint remover. It's got very light odor, almost none cux it's got water base. But the prev. owner sprayed almost 5,6 coat on it. I spent a good 12hrs of hard work to remove it.
In your case, it depends on where the finger prints are, if you have lr stacking up, you might just leave it cuz by the them your tank gets to about 2yrs old, you either get coraline algae or green algae cover the whole back. If I were you, I just leave it.

Where are they, will they be hidden by the rockwork? Also remember that the back wall will most likely be covered with coralline.

+1...give it a month and you won't see them.
