Painting a background.

I was wondering if you can paint the background with fish in it. I would coer the tank with seran wrap and duck tape it so nothing can get it. Would this work. At my LFS the dont have black backgrounds in my size.

If you can get to the back of it to paint it,you can get to the back to tint it. Go to your local home improvment store and get the darkest tint they have. Presto...Black background

I suppose it depends on the size of your tank. IMO it would be safer than trying to paint the back of the tank, If you are hell bent on painting the back,may i suggest buying a piece of 1/4 inch plywood and painting that instead. Then just mount the ply behind the tank. Either way you get the same effect

i painted a 55g setup before ,just like you said with seranwrap for the night
exept my painter friend gave my a can of black oilbase paint and a
mini [foam] roller with a small stick taped to handle to reach .worked for me

oh and the roll was big enough to cover my 90g with a little left over too..it is prob 26"x5or6 feet

Thanks. That like the same price as a normal background. Ill deffinatly go get some this weekend.

if u have any questions on how to do the tint then let me no. u need some soap water and a sqwee-gee...idk how to spell it... squeegy?
