painting an acrylic??

Hey everyone, I am thinking of paintint the back of my acrylic tank black. I was given the idea, and agree that it would look nicer. Concerned the the paint may leach toxins into the tank as it is already set up. Any knowledge on this? Would I find the paint at my lfs or simply the home depot?

At this point, tank being already setup, I would just put one of those plastic backgrounds. You can buy a solid black or blue one. I'd just be afraid the paint fumes leaching into the tank.
