I sprayed the backside of my QT with acrylic and love it. It's blue by the way.
Of course spray the OUTSIDE of the tank, sorry just have to make sure.
I sure wish I would have sprayed the backside of my DT.

lol I'm cheap and undecided
I just got some black felt cloth so if/when I decide to take mine down I can just pull it off in a second or 2 rather than scrape and fool with the paint
but at the same time I love the look of a somewhat colored background over an open back tank
"makes bright fish and corals stand out"

No special paint is needed. If you have a rattle can of black use it. Makes no difference if its fusion, lacquar or enamel, alkyld or acrylic..Even brush or roll on paint works just as fine. No worry about runs or sags, or if its gloss, flat or semi gloss, it all will look glossy and run free when viewed from within the tank. I like cheap brands of regular latex paint. Applied with a small sponge roller......if you ever decide to chage or remove it, its a fast easy job with a simple razor blade.......then again most paints remove pretty esay with a single edged razor blade anyhow.
