Painting on a background?

Is it possible to paint on a background while my tank is still setup or do I need to break it down and take everything out? If it is possible how can it be done and with what type of paint? Thanks for the help.

I would think it is possible as long as you have adequate access to the area you want to paint and are incredibly careful about drips and spills. IMO I would much rather paint an empty tank to allow for accidents and such. As for paint I've just used regular spray paint on the tanks I have painted.

Don't use spray paint on an established tank, overspray will contaminate the tank. Go to Lowes and buy some glass primer and add blue to it until you get the color you want.Pick out a color and Buy a 4" roller and you are good to go!
Good luck

there is something called oceanvisions. Many here have it.
Do a google on it. You apply is on with a liitle water and squeege. It comes off as easy. Many colors to choose from.

Soap and water for the Oceanvisions, use a credit card to get the bubbles out.
Love what it did to my tank and without painting :D

You could paint on the back of the tank, on the outside. Just use whatever paints you have, but stay away from the edges and such. You dont decorate on the inside, always on the outside. I think the stuff they just talked about will work for you though, and hand painting, although it sounds good, might come off a bit cheesier than you thought it would be.

maybe Thomas will post a pic of his tank. Very nice on the back. IMO sometimes painting looks bad. Depends on the brush strokes. Don't get this stuff confused with the stuff with the pics of the LR,corals etc that tapes on the back. Do a search, I think you will like the way it looks.
I am thinking of doing it on our new upcoming hex. :D
