Painting the inside of a canopy

I will be installing 4 x 65 48" and 3 x 80w 60" in a 72"
My canopy is going to be approx 72" x 19"(wide) x 8-11"(tall).
Some body had suggested painting the inside with a reflective paint to add to the reflection into the water.
Any suggestions?

That is a good idea. Use high gloss white.
A friend of mine used silver decorator foil from the craft store. He sprayed the whole inside of his acrylic canopy with epoxy then covered it with the foil. He then sprayed it again with high gloss clear epoxy to seal it. It lit the tank so much better that he ended up taking out one of the bulbs. He also had to hung something off the back because the light hitting the wall behind the canopy was so bright.

You can use regular food wrap foil with the shiny side up too. He just got the decorating stuff because it was on sale. You can also get thin sheets of mirrored plastic and arch it in there. Watch out for the mylar stuff, it conducts electricity. Combined with salt water and electric lights, well you get the idea. I knew another guy that used some mirrored contact paper that people used to put up in their rec rooms in the 80's. It ended up in a big sticky mess.

xDave I realized that the reflector may not work well. I am going to build a canopy were the front doors slide up (similar to the ones at glass cages).
I am probably just going to paint it with a white gloss.
Are there any other steps that I should do to make sure that the water and/or heat doesn't affect the paint? Or just to seal it best.

Depends on how much heat you're talking about. Ask somebody where you buy the paint. I'm thinking marine engine epoxy.

I wonder if a highly reflective metal would work? If it did you could go to a sheet metal shop and by a super reflective metal and screw it into your canapy.

I am going to hav 3 x 80w 60" t-5 and 4 x 65w 48" power compacts.
As far as the metal could that possibly cause some problems with the elctricity?
