2 :) there's nothing like a couple of clowns in a tank. just make sure one is smaller than the other, or that they are young enough to be both males.

If he is like Nemo, probably an Oscellaris or Percula, google the images..If you just got him, you would probably be able to take him back and get two (paying for the second)..I personally think that they enjoy having a partner

I think you have a percula clown. They like so much to be together that if you get them as a pair when they are very young, one will switch sexes to accomodate; however the 2 different species, I don't think will fight as long as there aren't three. If there are three, 2 of them will get together to become the 'dominant couple, which clowns like to do. Then you will have a problem. :happyfish

Clown species should not be mixed unless the tank is large enough to allow each one to pick a habitat.

Jessica, with all respect, if you reread this thread I think you'll find one person said it was ok to mix species.
This hobby takes time. Time to research, time to plan and time to wait.
You're frustrated because you keep leaping before you look. SLOW down...

I'll try to help out the best I can. Simply put - 2 different species of clowns CANNOT be put in same tank. (ie : Saddleback & Percula for example). Despite what your lfs owner says, she may have juveniles in that tank BUT - she's selling them. Not keeping them for her enjoyment. Hope this put your mind at ease.
