Pairing GSMs

Well I've had a pair of GSMs for just over a year now that were paired as babies. My female started showing signs of swim bladder and my lfs offered to get me another female. I picked one up today and placed my other female in my refugium until I take her back to the lfs tomorrow. It seems that my male and new female paired up instantly. As soon as the female saw the male she darted over to him and he became epileptic. Now, an hour later, she is nestled up in his usual sleeping place by the heater. So is this super lucky or is it because of the quick swap out intro, and also the fact that I have a true male and female? She is absolutely gorgeous.

My guess would be that since she's the new one to the tank, she feels out of place for territory reasons and the male would naturally quiver to the female in submission. This could be a very good sign or she could warm up to the surroundings and he could take a beating. I would definitely watch them and hope for the best...if she get's to violent you may have to separate them. GSM's are the most aggressive of the clownfish. I hope the pairing continues to go off without a hitch.

Thanks alot. So far he's been very submissive to her. Anytime she charges he either darts the other way or quivers in submission. But they have slept together every night so far, including the 1st night.

Sounds like things are going really well. Definitely keep me updated. I'll be checking back often. Kind of curious to see how this works. Most of the pairings I've read about were males being introduced to females and that can be a 50/50 with success. Not too much about females being introduced to males.

Well I went and messed w/ a good thing. I switched out my males and the female is going after the new male pretty hard. I put her in a specimen container within the tank cause the poor little male got a few chunks of fin torn off by the female. Thats what I get, I should have left well enough alone. Should I put her in the refugium for a few days and then reintroduce her in to the display tank? This way It will be like if he had been there all along??

i would do that. i also just got to maroons together and what i did was take the female out of my main tank put the male in for an hour and i re arranged my rocks then put the female back in and they liked each other. im going to try to start mating

Well now the male is right next to the female and the specimen container is dividing them but it seems like she still wants after him sometimes.
