can you pair marroon clown. i have 2 gold stripe and i know the bigger one has to grow a good bit for him to change --- but while all this happens the bigger one has been picking on the smaller for a week how long will it take him to get bigger anyone know?

I recently paired up maroon striped clownfish successfully. I let one grow to about 3 inches which took about 4-5 months ( became a female) and then put a one inch male in a breeder net for one week before releasing him into the main tank. They have set up home nicely in a BT anemone.:jumping:

The darker one looks like he has some fin damage. I would keep a close eye on them and if one gets too torn up you are going to need to remove him.

yes they still are the same siz about bigger is maybe 1/4in bigger and they are only about 1 inch havnt got yellow in them. i got them at the same time and they are in a 55 gallon tank by them selves right now im hoping to get them to pair off so i can i a pair of peaceful clwons.

marineman,
There both about the same size. The marron is a fraction larger. I added the maroon a few weeks after the percula. The maroon was an unexpected purchase and I like it a lot. I have a 33 long tank with only 3 fish and a cbs.

are you thinking about a host anemone yet, my maroon pair 1st adopted a condy but now live in a green bubble tip anemone, which may have helped in the boding process. need strong lighting for anemone to thrive.

i successfully paired my 2 gold striped maroons. my female is much bigger than my male, it took a while but now they're inseperable. i think the closer they are to the same size the harder it's going to be since they'll both want to be the dominant one; the female :D

Akinda, I use coralife power compact aqualights with combo of blue atinic and white 10k bulbs. Have 800watts over 175g and 200watts over 55g. Both tanks host a # of sea anemones.

Marineman,
It looks like you have success with 200 watts over a 55 gal. I was planning about 200 over a 33 long its 1 foot high. Would that work with anemones? On a consistant basis what do you add to your water? Could use some detailed help.

How long is the 33 long tank? You want to cover the tank end to end so there are no significant low light areas. 200 watts PC with a 10k bulb and blue actinic should work for you. I add trace elements, iodine and calcium regularly. I also feed my anemones a small peice of raw shrimp 1 to 2 a week. I keep the hardy type anemones ( condys, bubbletip, flowwer). My coralife aqualights are dual bulb in a reflector to max light down into the tank.

marineman,
I'm alittle off on the calcium/kalk. Do you add teaspoons of the powered or do you drip? I have no clue how that works.
