Panther Grouper Question.

I have a question about panther groupers.
I know a guy that has one in the city, its about 16" long and thats as big as he says they get...
I am intrested in getting one to put in my 180g with my volitan, and purple tang and I was wondering if a panther grouper would be a suitable tank mate with them and if it would eat the cleam up animals. I already know my volitan will eat small fish and shrimp, I was told the panther griuper is the same way. This true?

If you like the way an adult panther grouper looks (many people don't), it would be a great tankmate. A panther wouldn't eat anything the volitan won't, completely true. They do get larger then 16" though, over 2 feet in the wild. Maybe in growing up in an aquarium, they will only reach 16" or so. Can't say I've seen one bigger.

The big pluses to a panther grouper are that they usually aren't real aggressive like other groupers, and they are more active and not so cryptic like other groupers (they stay out in the open more). It's just such a shame that gorgeous white with big black spots coloration they have when small, turns into a dull off gray with tiny spots.

i had a cherry grouper years ago.he beat my wrasse to death and ate my lionfish.the lionfish was 2/3 his size.i know he ate him because i saw just a little of the lions fin coming out of the groupers mouth.well back to the lfs with him.

big fish lotsa waste. i used to have to catch mine with a pond net it was so big. unusual the bigger he got the nicer and darker his color got ,, they usually get lighter and uglier. i would feed him a dozen damsels every two weeks
