i want a parrot fish in my reef and dont know if they are reef campatible or not??? :thinking: i need to know anything about them
minmum tank size?

feeding ?

any other special needs?

No, they are not reef compatible. They eat stony corals.

YA, deff. not. They get huge too depending on the sp. The LFS by me has one that is at least 1.5 feet. Really cool fish though.

Parrotfish feed primarily on algae and polyps inside corals and encrusted rocks. They can grow to 3-4 feet but more commonly are found at about 2 feet. They need lots of coral to feed on and lots of rock to sleep under. Min. size tank is maybe 500g. So think before you buy.

yes, unfortunately the one at the LFS was in a tank no more than 90 gal....

That and it had zero rockwork or eve LS LR.... I dont buy fish there....
