Particles, powerhead prefilters, sand, snail, temp, & clownfish questions

Hi!
I like to get all the questions in at one time! Haven't been on in aa while because I've been caring for my 2 perculas in qt. My first 2 fish and they were sick! Meanwhile, my display is still empty and I have a few questions on getting it in excellent condition before moving the clowns over. The tank has been up less than 2 months. I have a 30g fowlr w/ 18 lbs lr, 13 hermits, 2 turbos, 3in sand bed, maxijet 900, emperor 280, and rodi water. Parameters are 0 except ammonia tests a little cloudy as fresh saltwater. I have ordered a remona skimmer.
1. There are tiny unknown particles in the water a whitish color. They are not bubbles or pods, I have those too. They are annoying but not noticeable unless you are looking up close. Anyone know what they probably are, and what if anything to do about it? Should I try some of the stuff that magnetizes and sinks it? I don't have a reef so I don't need food for inverts.
2. My powerhead makes the sand move around too much if I let it point down at all so it is pointing up but is still making major motion. Could this be a cause of my particles? Also, I have trouble with powerheads getting stopped up with gunk and spitting it out later. Do you all have or recommend prefilters? Would that help slow my flow too?
3. The sand gets blown in 2 spots and dips form there-where the power filter water comes out and where the power head water comes out. Is this a problem and if so how do I fix it?
4. I want to get some nass. snails. Should I get them before or after I add my perculas and how many? Will my hermits eat them? One of my hermits is a halloween crab. My crabs already ate a turbo snail that was dying.
5. The temp in my qt varies from 76-78 night and day. Will this bother them?
6. And finally, my two clownfish have bacterial infections and have been struggling since a week after I bought them. They are on antibiotics right now. Did anyone else have trouble getting clowns happy and healthy? If so, what are the secrets!:)
Any other pointers will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to help!

Have you tried adjusting your powerheads to aless powerful setting?
You can add snails anytime you want...but Blue hermits will eat them.:D

You could try getting some more rock (either live or base it'll all end up the same) and put them in the spots where the sand is getting blown around. They'll absorb the water flow and redirect it. Besides it's good to have water moving through your rock anyways. Plus I see you only have around 18 pounds. Rule of thumb is 1 lb per gallon. I hate rules of thumb, but for the most part, this one works.
Snails can gon in any time after the cycle and your temp looks good. Ideally the swing wouldn't be more than a degree but if you're just doing fish, then 76-78 is great.
Only trouble with my clowns was a malnourished one, but as soon as he was put in my tank and became the second biggest clown, he quickly got back to eating and colored up nicely.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't know if my powerhead can be adjusted. It'a a maxijet 900 and I don't have the air tube attached?
I do have some blue hermits, but my orange/green ones are bigger and more active. They pinch at my turbos ever since the escargot incident.

I was planning on getting more rock anyway so I will try putting some in those 2 places when I get it.
I think my smaller clown was malnourished too and he is the sicker one. So hopefully he will perk up and color up soon too.
Any suggestions or thoughts about the particles in the water or using a magnetising solution?

Does your powerhead have a circular part beneath the discharge? If it does, it should have a tab on it that can be adjusted.:D

You need a heater for your tank. Even 78 degrees is low IMO. Get a heater and gradually turn it up to 80-84.

I don't see a tab on my powerhead.
My temp used to be higher and I was afraid it was too high. The lights and power head make it a lot warmer during the day. Should I really keep my tank at a higher temp? I have a heater it is just turned down.
Any ideas about the particles anyone? Keep em or get rid of em and how?

Yes, turn the heater up to about 80-84 degrees. It will automatically turn off when the temp goes above what you set it to.

They could be disolved organics, the skimmer may
take care of those. That is an off the cuff thought though as you don't have a lot of livestock in the tank to produce them. I had the same problem before I upgraded my own skimmer... now all I have to deal with is the sand that my Clarkii stirs up

So I shouldn't really be concerned about the particles? Sounds like they are normal. I haven't heard anyone against using the stuff that makes the particle sink. Maybe I don't have enough good bacteria yet? Would some liquid stuff with good bacteria be a good idea then?

If you already have inverts living in the tank then your cycle should be complete... I would warn against adding anything to your tank, but that is just me. IMO I don't like additives and prefer to take care of things with water changes....
Cheers!
