ok, this is directly contrary to another email from the company:
I recieved information from Dave Berard, Retail Sales District Manager at the Boston office (the office that supplies New York). Mr Berard emailed me the MSDS sheet for the playsand and said it was quarried in western Massechusetts (Adams, MA). The MSDS sheet list the manufacturer as Specialty Minerals and that the product is Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC).

HMMMM.I e-mailed the Missouri branch so it must be different depending on where it is mined .I guess the only way to know for sure is to vinegar test It.

i guess that would make sense... why mine something here in mass and ship it across the country when it could be mined across the country as well.

Just bought a couple bags of this stuff from a Home Depot in Milford CT. It was hard to find since it is out of season and only a few Home Depots had it, and I had to wait till the weather was warm enough for the bags to thaw enough so I could even get them off the pallet, but got it today and decided to put some in vinegar and I got a lot of bubbles... a lot of bubbles, sort of like an alka seltzer sort of thing but it doesnt seem to be dissolving at all....
So does this mean it's silicate based sand and not limestone based? Is it just possible that perhaps I picked up a bag that was quarried not in Mass?
